Lizzette Moreno Garcia
Postdoctoral Researcher-Bioengineering
Lizzette Moreno Garcia joined NREL in 2022 as a postdoctoral researcher. At NREL, she is working on the optimization and scale up of a co-culture-based bioprocess for the synthesis of platform chemicals for the production of sustainable aviation fuels using solid agricultural residues as feedstocks.
Lizzette completed her doctoral degree in bioresource engineering at McGill University, in Montreal, Canada. She has experience in microalgae biorefinery systems, phycoremediation, carbon dioxide capture by microalgae, bioprocess scaling, and thermochemical conversion processes from waste oils to sustainable aviation fuels. Lizzette’s academic background is in biochemical engineering (bachelor's and master's). She has more than eight years of experience as a university lecturer in Mexico and Canada, teaching engineering, math, and experimental design courses.
