Staff Profiles

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory Research Hub is a research information management system (RIMS) that serves as a portal to the laboratory’s publication data; research organizations; and researcher profiles, awards, and professional activities.

For researcher profiles, the Research Hub:

  • Integrates NREL publications data, automatically updating research output as new publications are released
  • Creates a unique research “fingerprint” that reflects the of most common areas of research activity
  • Maps research collaborations
  • Offers the potential for future data integrations into the NREL.gov website.

Inclusion

The Research Hub is primarily a research repository, which includes supplementary information about the authors of that research. Academic staff who have authored at least one NREL publication are automatically included in the Research Hub. Postdoctoral researchers may be included before they are published.

Nonacademic, or operations, staff may request inclusion if they:

  • Are in an organizational leadership role (group manager or above)
  • Lead a high-visibility research or deployment program.

Headshots

Headshots are optional. A professional headshot is recommended for staff profiles; however, photos supplied by staff members may be used. These photos must be at least 1600 by 1200 pixels. Photos will be cropped  to head and shoulders, vertically, at a 2:1 ratio (350 by 425 pixels). Grainy, poor-quality images will not be accepted.

If you submit your own photo, choose an image in which your face is well lit and looking at the camera. Try to find an area with even light and a plain, clean background, such as a light-colored wall, and stand a few feet in front of it. Avoid busy backgrounds. If possible, have someone else take the photo.

For all staff photos, wear comfortable clothes that fit well. Business casual dress is recommended. Solid-color shirts or jackets work well. Avoid big prints, busy patterns, and logos, which can be distracting and date the photo. Mid-tone colors such blue, green, burgundy, and purple are universally flattering.

Profile Requests

NREL staff who meet the inclusion criteria may request a new profile or edits to an existing profile via the Research Hub Profile Intake Form.
