Advanced Distribution Management Systems Test Bed and Federated Architecture for Secure and Transactive Distributed Energy Resource Management Solutions Workshop 2024

NREL is hosting the Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS) Test Bed and Federated Architecture for Secure and Transactive Distributed Energy Resource Management Solutions (FAST-DERMS) Workshop in December at NREL's Golden Campus.

NREL and partners will be presenting updates, results and achievements from completed and current ADMS Test Bed use cases and other projects that are using the ADMS Test Bed, such as the Resilience and Stability Oriented Cellular Grid and Smart Grid Test Bed Collaboration projects, and a preview of upcoming use cases and projects. The FAST-DERMS team will provide an overview of the architecture and reference controls developed as part of the project, along with simulation and laboratory evaluation results. We will also have live demonstrations, an optional tour of the Energy Systems Integration Facility, and provide an update on NREL's Autonomous Energy Systems initiative.

ADMS Test Bed: The ADMS Test Bed, funded by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Electricity, enables utility partners, vendors, and researchers to evaluate existing and future grid controls, such as ADMS and DERMS in a realistic laboratory environment that includes software simulation of distribution systems and field equipment integrated through hardware-in-the-loop techniques.

FAST-DERMS: The FAST-DERMS project is funded by the Buildings Technology Office and the Office of Electricity through the Grid Modernization Laboratory Consortium. FAST-DERMS will enable the provision of reliable, resilient, and secure distribution and transmission grid services through scalable aggregation and near real-time management of utility-scale and small-scale DERs.
