NREL works with our developing country partners from utilities, policymakers, regulators—to support them in their decision-making process in the clean energy transition. NREL’s unique capabilities differ from consultants that USAID uses and I think it’s one of the core competencies and really special things about working with NREL—the research capabilities, the modeling capacity, the analytical support and the way they partner with USAID counterparts in terms of building their skills and working with them so that they basically work their way out of a job and then the counterparts know how to do the types of modeling and other specific work themselves in the future.
