REopt Assesses the Value of Storage in Microgrid Design for DOD ESTCP
In collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP), NREL is conducting REopt® modeling to assess the value of integrating large-scale battery energy storage into current and future microgrids at military installations. NREL will model seven conceptual microgrid designs with and without energy storage to quantify the economic and resilience benefit of energy storage. These results will be used to benchmark comparisons from ESTCP awardees' model outputs.
