Atlanta Regional Onboard Transit Survey
The 2019 Atlanta Regional Onboard Transit Survey collected information about travel patterns, demographics, and service characteristics for transit systems in 20 counties in the Atlanta, Georgia, region.
Transit Agency
The transit systems surveyed were operated by the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, the Cherokee Area Transportation System, Gwinnett County Transit, Hall Area Transit (Gainesville Connection), Cobb Transit Service, and the State Road and Tollway Authority. The survey was prepared for the Atlanta Regional Commission by ETC Institute.
Survey Methodology
This survey was conducted in English, Spanish, Arabic, Cantonese, Korean, Russian, Tagalog, and Vietnamese in March—December 2019, with a summer break when schools were closed. A sampling plan ensured ample data collection for performing analyses. The goal was to obtain at least 33,490 completed surveys, which were allocated among the region's transit systems.
A pilot survey, conducted to test the efficiency of the full survey plan, served as a test run of the full-scale data-collection process and informed the development of a data quality assurance and control plan.
