Northwest Arkansas Systemwide Origin-Destination Transit Survey

The 2018 Systemwide Origin-Destination Transit Survey provided ridership information for planning and forecasting purposes in northwest Arkansas.

Survey results featured information about transit service use, enabled the planning commission to enhance its travel-demand forecasting model, improved understanding of different trip characteristics and ridership profiles, and helped regional transit agencies meet Title VI civil rights requirements and enhance Title VI programs.

Transit Agency

ETC Institute conducted the survey for the Northwest Arkansas Regional Planning Commission.

Survey Methodology

The survey, conducted in English, focused on regional transit riders in northwest Arkansas using the Ozark Regional Transit (ORT) and Razorback Transit (Razorback) systems. A sampling plan specified that at least 1,000 surveys be completed to ensure the distribution of surveys mirrored the actual distribution of riders. The source of the original ridership data used for the plan came from ORT (for Feb. 6–8, 2018) and Razorback (for the full month of February 2018). All told, ETC collected 132 ORT surveys and 976 Razorback surveys.

The preferred survey method involved the use of tablets with on-screen mapping features, allowing for real-time geocoding of addresses and places.
