Puget Sound Central Link Origin-Destination Transit Study
This 2018 Central Link Origin-Destination Transit Study helped determine the percentage of light-rail riders traveling to major origin and destination zones in the Puget Sound region of Washington.
Transit Agency
EMC Research conducted the survey for the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority.
Study Methodology
The survey was conducted in English, Chinese, Spanish, Tagalog, Korean, and Vietnamese from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday, Sept. 20–Dec. 18, 2018, excluding holidays and school vacations. It employed a run-based sampling methodology to satisfy the requisite number of completed interviews by route, direction, and time of day.
Distributed to passengers on targeted light-rail cars, a questionnaire asked for information about their current one-way trip as well as demographics. Respondents were given the option of returning the survey while on board or via mail.
