Request for Information: Potential Electricity Market Design Competition
Provide your feedback in this brief NREL request for information (RFI) and help us explore a potential prize competition to help transform how renewables and storage resources are integrated into the grid.
Background
As the electricity sector moves toward a zero-carbon future, current market structures may not fully support this transition. Many zero-carbon resources have low or zero variable costs and high fixed costs, creating new challenges for independent system operators and regional transmission organizations across the U.S.
Purpose
This RFI is intended to collect feedback from potential prize competitors and reviewers. The information collected through this RFI will inform the prize administration team’s decision-making process.
Your insights matter. Please review the presentation for a potential electricity market design prize, and share your feedback in the RFI. Be part of shaping this potential competition.
Note: Your responses are optional and you may choose to respond anonymously, but providing
your optional respondent information allows for a more thorough evaluation of potential
prize interest. We will retain a record of your response for 5 years. For more information,
see NREL's security and privacy notices.
