STEMapalooza at NREL
The STEMapalooza event on Nov. 8–9, 2024 is cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
STEMapalooza is designed to increase interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematic (STEM) fields; engage students in renewable energy technology and career pathways; and inspire the next-gen workforce. Funded by the U.S. Department of Energy's Water Power Technologies Office, the two-day event will include:

Day 2, Nov. 9, Schedule of Activities
These activities are offered at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m., and 2:30 p.m:
- Tours of the Flatirons Campus (minimum age 10 years)
Learn about and see some of NREL’s state-of-the-art technologies - National Ocean Sciences Bowl mock competition
Participate in a mock competition and gain exposure to the National Ocean Science Bowl's Colorado-based Trout Bowl - Hands-on renewable energy STEM activities
Build renewable energy devices—including marine energy, hydropower, solar, and wind—with several STEM education organizations - Résumé building workshops
Work on your résumé (for high school and college students) and learn résumé best practices with an expert - Power Market Interactive Game.
We are also offering:
- Game stations and sensory rooms: all day
- McDevitt’s Food Truck: 11 a.m.—2 p.m, available for purchase and includes vegan options.
All activities on Nov. 9 are open to the public, but you must be registered ahead of time. Activities on Friday, Nov. 8, are closed for competition students and participating industry.
Registration prior to the event is required. U.S. citizens must register no later than Nov. 8, 2024. The cutoff date for non U.S. citizens to register has passed. Please contact competition organizers with questions.
