The following information will help you plan your trip to the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's (NREL's) Washington, D.C., office.
Air Transportation
Three airports serve the Washington metropolitan area: Reagan National Airport (DCA), Dulles International Airport (IAD), and Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). DCA is the nearest airport to NREL and is the only one directly accessible by Metro. Use the links below for additional information.

Public Transportation
The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority metro subway and bus system is the environmentally friendly and economical way to travel to NREL and within the metropolitan area.
The L'Enfant Plaza metro station is the closest station to NREL. There are multiple exits at the L'Enfant Plaza station. From all four lines (yellow, green, blue, and orange), use the exit marked "L'Enfant Plaza." As you exit the station, at the top of the escalator make a right turn and exit outside. Go down the steps, which lead to D Street SW. Turn left and at the light cross to the opposite side of D Street. Turn left, passing the "do not enter" sign; the building is to your right as you proceed up D Street.
A pay parking garage is accessible from the lobby of the building.
Lodging
The Washington metropolitan area has a vast selection of accommodations. When visiting travel sites, search areas such as L'Enfant Plaza, downtown, Capitol Hill or Reagan National Airport for lodging easily accessible by metro or an easy commute to NREL.
