Hydrogen System Component Validation
NREL's hydrogen system component validation studies focus on improving the reliability of compressors and other hydrogen system components.
Reliable components are needed to ensure the success of hydrogen fueling stations and support the commercial deployment of fuel cell electric vehicles and material handling equipment. NREL's technology validation team is collaborating with industry to test and validate the commercial readiness of hydrogen system components in real-world operating conditions.
NREL is working with industry partners to perform accelerated testing of compressor systems and related components using the Hydrogen Infrastructure Testing and Research Facility. NREL engineers capture performance data, investigate the cause of failures, correlate findings with real-world data, and work with manufacturers to improve component design and reduce downtime.
